Website | Facebook | JamBase | YouTube | ReverbNation | Myspace
Comprised of six members, instrumentation includes Banjo, Acoustic Guitar, Fiddle, Harmonica, Upright Bass, and light Percussion. Their sound is energetic and creative. A deep, introspective message underlines the up-tempo, foot thumping melodies and hooks as The Boys explore subjects such as love, philosophy, environmentalism, booze, and death. As a group of young men, having all studied music for most of their lives and all multi-instrumentalists; The Boys n' the Barrels convey talent while maintaining modesty and responsibility. Their stage presence is strong as members take solos in front of a single condenser microphone; in homage to their roots.
Many of the band members have been making music together for years, but their latest incarnation; The Boys n' the Barrels hit the ground running well over a year ago and have been winning over crowds at venues ranging from bars to cafes to music festivals. While beginning in, and remaining rooted in Minneapolis and St. Paul, they have extended their audience to towns such as Duluth, MN, Madison, WI, and Fargo, ND, and as far as Morningview, KY. Radio airplay already features spots on local stations including Bluegrass Saturday Mornings on Jazz 88.5, regular play on KFAI (90.3 in the Twin Cities) and college stations as far as Eau Claire, WI.
A promising up-and-coming talent, The Boys continue to impress and awe audiences in and around Minneapolis while introducing interest in Folk music to people of their own generation with their unique blend of traditional and contemporary sounds.
Boys N' The Barrels have played at notable festivals such as Wakarusa, Bella Music Fest, Prairie Grass, and more.
